Please, pull up a seat and join the conversation. It's my goal to have this blog resembling the dialogue that often goes on between Mormon women in all states of grace (and no, these aren't Super Saturday conversations). It's an opportunity to share experiences and information related to our lives in an anonymous atmosphere and with no judgements-well, okay, maybe a few... While yes, I'd like you to leave some of your inhibitions behind when you write a juicy and helpful comment, but please don't put anything that makes me have to call your mother.
Sometimes we just need numbers to confirm what we already know.
The other night, at a small party, the host asked if we my husband and I were still "practicing Mormons". When I said no her husband looked over at her (and I) and said, 'Well, if they were, they'd have a bunch more kids by now!'.
They, and the article, hit the stereotype right on the head (or is it no longer a stereotype....)
I agree with your sentiment. What I'd like for you to do, though, is discuss what you think these socio-religious tendencies do to families, the community, and the nation as a whole. For example, how does marrying early and having lots of children relate to Utah being the highest in per-capita bankruptcy, home forclosures, and prescription antidepressant usage?
Also, as an aside, I found a great blog you might be keenly interested in. Your namesake can be found at http://modernmollymormon.blogspot.com/
